Two different offices, depending on the problem
This is the single most confusing utility in town, because the collection is handled county-side and the rules are handled township-side. Which number you want depends on what went wrong.

A missed pickup
Curbside recycling complaints go to the collection contractor: 609-267-6889, or recycling@otcbc.org. This is not a township phone number and the township cannot resolve it for you.

Rules and bins
The township's Recycling Coordinator is Donna McBreen, 609-836-5258 — what goes in the bin, replacement containers, township-side recycling questions.

Your collection day
Collection day depends on your route, and the schedule is published only inside a township PDF — the "2026–2027 Recycling Schedule." Curbside brush pickup runs on a separate PDF schedule. If you can't find yours, call the Recycling Coordinator and ask for your street.

Drop-off, 24/7
There is a recycling drop-off behind the Municipal Building at 500 Pemberton–Browns Mills Road, open at any hour.

Televisions
TVs are not curbside. They go to the Public Works yard.

Household hazardous waste goes to the Burlington County Resource Recovery Complex, 609-499-5300. There is a fee. Call before you drive out.

Property taxes
Four quarters, one office
Pemberton Township bills property taxes quarterly. The Tax Collector is Shayla Steele, at the Municipal Building, 500 Pemberton–Browns Mills Road: 609-894-3365. The same account also carries your water, sewer, and solid waste charges. Unpaid balances go to the annual tax sale.

Paying online: the township points residents to a third-party payment portal. We have not been able to verify that address ourselves, and we will not print a payment link we haven't checked — a wrong one costs somebody real money.

Fire
Fire protection is all-volunteer. Four stations cover the township; three of them are in Browns Mills.

Ambulance
EMS is not run by the township. Two squads operate locally — the Browns Mills Emergency Squad and the Pemberton First Aid & Rescue Squad — and the arrangement between the township and those squads has been litigated before, in a 2017 Appellate Division case. We do not know the current contract status, and we are not going to guess. Call 911 and let dispatch send whoever is on.

The local ER is at the Deborah campus, 200 Trenton Road, Browns Mills — Capital Health at Deborah. It is in town.

The library and the senior center

Pemberton Community Library
16 Broadway, Browns Mills · 609-893-8262. A Burlington County Library System branch, 18,000 square feet, opened 2001. Storytimes, homeschool STEAM, teen crafts, meeting rooms, printing. A county card works at every BCLS branch.
Hours: Monday–Thursday 10:00–8:30 · Friday and Saturday 10:00–5:00 · Sunday closed. Summer hours are reduced. One secondary listing showed Sunday 1:00–5:00; the county's own page says closed, so we print closed and suggest calling if a Sunday trip matters.

Getting out without a car
Buses
Browns Mills is a car town. There are two bus options, and neither is frequent.

BurLink B1
The county bus. Roughly hourly on weekdays, $2.00 each way. It runs from the RiverLINE station at Beverly/Edgewater Park through Willingboro, Westampton, Mount Holly and Pemberton into Browns Mills, ending at Country Lake Estates. That chain — bus to RiverLINE to Camden or Trenton — is the practical no-car route out of the county.
Schedules are not on the township site. They come from Burlington County and Cross County Connection.

NJ Transit 317
The 317 is the bus toward Philadelphia. Service is sparse — roughly every three hours — so it is a planned trip, not a fallback. Check the timetable the day you travel; we are not printing departure times we cannot keep current.

Schools serving Browns Mills
Everything here is Pemberton Township School District — about 4,400 students across nine schools, PreK through 12. Two elementary schools sit in Browns Mills itself; the middle and high schools are in Pemberton proper, a short drive up the road.

Programs and fields
Recreation
Pemberton Township Recreation runs out of the Municipal Building, 500 Pemberton–Browns Mills Road: 609-893-5034. Youth soccer, basketball, t-ball, lacrosse and football, from toddler programs up. Facilities include the Sports Complex and Nesbit Football Field. The department also operates the township's three lake beaches, which are covered on Outside.
Registration is handled through an outside portal that the township links from its own page. We have not verified that address, so we are not linking it here.
